KINGS OF MACEDON. Antigonos III Doson, 229-221 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 30 mm, 16.85 g, 7 h), Amphipolis or Pella. Horned head of Pan to left, wearing goat skin around his neck and with lagobolon behind; all within the center of a Macedonian shield adorned with stars and crescents. Rev. BAΣIΛEΩΣ - ANTIΓONOΥ Athena Alkidemos striding left, holding shield with her left hand and brandishing a thunderbolt in her right; to left, facing Macedonian helmet with transverse crest; to right, ΚΤ. HGC 3.1, 1042 ('Antigonos II Gonatas'). Panagopoulou Period IV, Group 5, 26 (O9/R25). SNG Berry 357 (same dies). Light marks and with a small area of repair and a minor surface crack at edge on obverse, otherwise, good very fine.
